In this presentation, Dr. Sriram Vishwanath will present case studies that illustrate how predictive models can improve both care management and overall risk management within the healthcare ecosystem. In particular, he will emphasize the pitfalls of traditional modeling schemes in healthcare, and discuss the need for fundamental research in healthcare modeling to improve predictive performance.

Dr. Sriram Vishwanath is with the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas, Austin as a Professor. He has over 150-refereed papers with roughly 20 years of experience in the domains of informatics, statistics and data science, and is a serial entrepreneur. Dr. Vishwanath and his team have developed highly accurate models for understanding healthcare outcomes and costs, and have applied them to a variety of applications. He received his PhD from Stanford University and MS from the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech).
